Company “Vinagro” LLC is the founder of “Goygol Wine Plant” OJSC, the oldest wine factory in Azerbaijan.
The factory was founded in 1860 by German colonists who played an important role in the foundation of wine industry in region due to the diligence and initiative.
Now “Goygol Wine Plant” again has taken its honorable position in the rank of wine manufacturers of Azerbaijan. The official law of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted on October 19, 2001 “About winegrowing and winemaking” enabled businessmen to invest their money in this sector of economy.
In May, 2006 “Vinagro” LLC was created that had got bulk share at stock exchange of “Goygol Wine Plant” (former “Khanlar Wine Plant”). It enable for full transformation of the factory. The factory purchased the area with a fertile soil for planting vineyards in the territory of Goygol and Samukh regions. Contracts were concluded with leading European firms and there were received high-quality selected sorts of grape planting stocks which have already been included into fruiting stage.
Unfortunately the factory which was the third on overall production of cognac and wine in Union in 80th years was in ruins. In 2006 as a result of chaos in economy the plant was completely destroyed.
Management of “Vinagro” and the factory put a priority on full technical and technological modernization of enterprise. New shops have been built and reconstructed for short time, there were got the newest and modern equipments from the leading Italian companies, the oldest unique wine cellars were renovated. At the present time territory of the factory is 291000 square meters.
The factory started to manufacture the first production in August, 2007. Now "XAN" is the most popular brand in Azerbaijan and already recognized abroad. Now all production of the company are manufactured under this brand; wines, vodka, vintage champagne, cognacs.
Course of the company still remains constant on full-scale development with application of the newest technical equipments and technology, in view of classical traditions, for manufacture of high-quality production which will restore the former glory of the Azerbaijan winemaking.
